That Summer Love
By Patricia
That summer love, when the sun was free to kiss
It’s the hour when we just mumble pranks and tease
To imaginary friends in caps and ribbons
Tossing teacups playfully like happy salmons
That summer love, when dresses were not yet too small
When we never cared to be skinny or tall
Oh, Poplins were still Bandages in the loop
For the endless amusement of hoola-hoop
That summer love, when you fall like raindrops from the sky
That night when you wish for nothing than to fly
Oh, how sweet is the bliss of being loved by the trees
Until the curtain closes from that naughty play
That summer love, when your ‘sweetie’ was removed
The very moment when writing was improved
Tears fall down, when you forever said goodbye
Smiling at the sun with your little pinkeye
That summer love, when drinking means wild and cool
Then what adheres in life was the blue light tool
The season when change is what we seek from others
But we always disregard our own nasty clutters
That summer love, when you wish you should’ve known
No, Grandpa said you should have stayed strong
For summer’s sun is hot and so is winter’s snow
Yes, Love is just an idea until you proved him wrong
It's a double meaning poem.
